Experience providing professional development activities or programming for faculty. Multi-modal (face-to-face, hybrid and online) instructional and/or professional development experience. Experience designing, implementing and assessing equitable, inclusive and accessible pedagogical practices. Minimum 2 years higher educational instructional experience. Ability to communicate with constituents in a professional and respectful manner. Ability to meaningfully organize and use cloud storage solutions. Knowledge of and ability to master use of social media tools (such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) to communicate with faculty. Ability to apply consultative skills to determine professional development needs. Strong working knowledge of online tools used to support faculty development, including, but not limited to: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud. Strong working knowledge of effective skills and tools for collaboration, including conflict resolution, and ability to work with colleagues from other units and offices around campus on shared programming and initiatives. Ability to provide culturally sensitive feedback on faculty members’ instructional materials. Ability to produce clear, professional and accessible slides and other presentational media. Strong working knowledge of inclusive classroom pedagogy and principles of universal design for learning (UDL). Working knowledge of extant research in high impact practices in higher education, including the role of HIPs in student success for adult learners, first-generation students and historically underserved students. Ability to write/create training and professional development curriculum that is timely and reflects current and relevant research and practices in culturally-inclusive and accessible higher education pedagogy. Assist the Assistant Vice Provost and eCampus Senior Director on duties as assigned, such as planning campus or systemwide symposia, data analysis, report generation, and publication. Provide leadership and support for campus and unit initiatives, programs, and tools that support faculty in applying Universal Design for Learning principles for accessibility. Provide leadership and support for campus and unit initiatives and programs that support faculty in culturally sustaining and inclusive pedagogy, collaborating with colleagues in ODEI and Student Affairs as appropriate. Conduct outreach, research, and provide support to faculty in the adoption of pedagogical strategies that promote student success in and across different instructional modalities (e.g., onsite, online, hybrid, co-synchronous). Provide multi-model training, including individual consultation, group sessions (workshops, learning community sessions) and self-guided engagements (online tutorials and/or website content). Develop, organize and offer high-level, coordinated initiatives and campaigns (e.g., faculty learning communities), as well as individual workshops and events. 
Design, develop, implement and assess professional development programming regarding evidence-based best practices in accessible, culturally sustaining, asset-based, and inclusive instruction.The Associate Director collaborates with the Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Development and eCampus Senior Director to create programming for faculty excellence in teaching and learning that is equity-minded, inclusive, accessible, and multi-modal. CFD also includes eCampus, which supports faculty in equitable and effective use of a broad slate of educational technologies, including the campus learning management system. Organizationally located within the Office for Faculty Success, SJSU’s Center for Faculty Development cultivates excellence in all aspects of a faculty member’s assignment, including support for tenure and promotion, range elevation, sabbatical leave and other personnel processes equitable, inclusive, accessible and effective teaching for student success research, scholarship and creative activity and leadership development.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Development, the Associate Director collaborates with campus units such as the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Office of Undergraduate Education, and units in Student Affairs, among others. The Associate Director for Inclusive Teaching and Learning develops, organizes, delivers, and assesses professional development programming for faculty in support of culturally sustaining, asset-based, equity-minded, inclusive student success in the Center for Faculty Development (CFD).
